Mirror

This submission is in honor of my brother Shane, who passed on from a brain tumor on July 24th, 2008. He saw me working on it and demanded (in his big brother, I-know-best way) that I become a professional artist. It made me laugh at the time, but it's become a fond memory that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Here's to you, bro.

Even before then, this piece held a special little place in my heart. I think I worked a good 40-50 hours on this, even if you discount all the times I had to go back and redo something because my laptop froze on me. Piece of crap >.<

The picture was originally called "Tarot-esque", because that was always what the poses reminded me of. A tarot card. And my set of cards was partly what inspired the idea in the first place; I don't know why. They just did XD

The hardest thing to get references for was the KHII Ultima Weapon. I'm surprised the bloody thing didn't make me go cross-eyed. Everything else was pretty easy, although the level of detail made me want to scream at times. And shading something this big is extremely tedious. But looking at it now makes me think it was worth it.

It needs more; I know it does. But right now, I'm happy with it. So it's going up like this.
